A bold new way on colour creation

E21 is a company which manufactures machines for colour creation. The company has been growing fast as well as the needs of their clients.

THE PROBLEM

They provided with the machines an outdated software for colour creation, which didn’t cover all the tasks, flows and needs of end consumers. Furthermore, the software was local (not internet connected), the processes were slow and the look and feel quite upgradeable. The software couldn’t track and manage properly stocks in the warehouse, creating a lot of waste and expired material.

The challenge was to keep the software at the same level of the high-end machines for colour creation, satisfying the needs of the stakeholders while improving stock tracking and management.

My role

My role on the project was as UX/UI Designer.

The main contribution to the project was to research and refine which are the most common functionalities and needs of the software and apply with a natural and fluid way. Also, design how to connect and supervise the whole process from order creation to warehouse stock.

Some of the tasks and the process I performed:

  • Analysis of company processes and understanding business and colour creation process.
  • User and stakeholder interviews for striving needs and functionalities.
  • Definitions of user journeys.
  • Benchmarking of market solutions.
  • Wireframing, test and iteration of the product with users and stakeholders.
  • User test and interview.
  • UX design
  • UI design
  • Interactive prototyping.
  • Design system creation.
  • Sharing assets with developers.

Project Outcome

The final SaaS product allows to control, track and manage the whole process in an eye-catching way. It contains the main features users requested offering flexibility and efficiency of use, both for novice and expert users.
Users are able to monitor the task progress while using the remaining options such as creating orders, adding bases or creating formulas. Additionally, the software zero waste philosophy allows to track on the warehouse for about-to-expire paint cans in order to optimize the production.

The product offers real-time notifications and alerts for issues such as preventing out-of-stock bases and repeated orders or products if available in the warehouse.
Finally, users are able to generate reports for optimization and forecasting stock management and production. A new bold way on colour creation.
